Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers: Is She Gay? Straight? Or…?
Half of the people want her gay and the other half ship her with Nick fury. Which one is right?
As many of you might have noticed, the movie has not revealed Carol Danvers’ sexuality. All we know is that she has a very close female friend who has a daughter and a male mentor who turns out to be the person that killed her original mentor on earth.
But throughout the rollercoaster ride of her jumbled up memories, we didn’t see any romantic line between Vers and anyone. Mary Livanos, producer of Captain Marvel finally talks about why that is the case.
Captain Marvel landed on earth this March just before Avengers: Endgame premiered. It gives her a back story and allows her character to integrate with others, making it easy for viewers to connect with her. But throughout the two movies, none was done to resolve her sexuality. Mary Livanos answered this question during her interview with Business Insider last week in New York.
“Speaking to Captain Marvel, in that installment, that was a movie about self-discovery and Carol re-finding herself. So, in executing the film, we felt there wasn’t room in the narrative to tell that story.”
Livanos never answered whether or not Carol Denvers is a straight or gay character, but she didn’t deny to the possibility either. And so far, Carol has been spending a lot of time keeping planets in order, especially after Thanos snapped half of the universe to dust. While she didn’t make as much appearance as others, when she did, it gave the team new hopes as she was one of the most powerful heroes.
