Artist Imagines A Little Mermaid In The 21st Century And It’s Disheartening

“What would a mermaid wear these days?”

Initially, Hans Christian Andersen –  Danish Author had written The Little Mermaid in 1836 and afterward has been reworked several times.

Obviously, the most recognized version was the once released by Disney in 1989. And while there’s also a remake of the Little Mermaid in the pipeline, a German Artist, Stephanie Hermes, popularly called s0s2 decided to visualize a XXI century mermaid.

“I would say that my style was mostly inspired by American cartoons from the ’90s with a touch of Japanese anime. I really love drawing funny expressions and cartoons are perfect for that.” Stephanie said.

Titled its creation “The Little Trashmaid”, Stephanie drawings display ocean pollution in a way that is as authentic as it’s disheartening.
