Google Pixel 3a XL: Less With More Value Than Pixel 3 XL
Half the price, but worth the sacrifice!
The Google Pixel 3 XL came out and did people surprises by bringing them incredible camera quality as well as a solid material. It has a dual look on its back where glass transitions to a matte finish. But there is one big problem with this phone: the price.
And to achieve the world’s peace (I’m joking), Google listens to the plea of those who just want the goodies inside the phone, not the outside. That was how Google Pixel 3a XL was born. It has similar specs and Google dropped several details to cut cost, such as using plastic as the main material for the body.
Sure, your phone looks less fancy and cheaper, but that’s the whole point of Pixel 3a XL and why it packs more value than Pixel 3 XL might have.
Body. Google Pixel 3a XL has a significant downgrade in design. You will definitely notice the plastic material that looks less solid and shiny. However, the plastic itself is still a good material to go with since it’s pretty durable. And you still get that dual look, although not as punchy.
Bad news for those who love Google Pixel 3 XL design: they scratch really easy. And the good news? You don’t always purposely scratch the frosting with metal. Meanwhile, Google Pixel 3a XL won’t scratch as easily.
Performance. The Google Pixel 3a XL is packed with Snapdragon 670, which is a decent processor for a phone under $500. Pixel 3 XL comes with Snapdragon 845 on the other hand, a flagship standard. Both runs at 4GB RAM, which could have been better for a Pixel 3 XL.
Display. A lot of people think the wide bezel is such a no-no, but you should have seen the notch on Pixel 3 XL. It is annoyingly huge and should have been dealt with. They end up giving users the options to cut parts of their screen and create a sense of bezel-like appearance.
Might as well save your money to buy something with essentially the same look. Well, of course, Google Pixel 3 XL has a better display at 523 ppi while Pixel 3a XL has 402 ppi.
Cameras. Both are also equipped with the same cameras – 12.2 MP for the rear camera and 8 MP for the selfie camera.
IT HAS A HEADPHONE JACK. We think this is worth highlighting because a headphone jack is so important that smartphone designers seemed to have forgotten that we love it wired. We don’t always like spending 3 hours listening to music and charging both the headphones and smartphone for the next 1-2 hours.
Battery. Although, it doesn’t support wireless charging, which makes your Pixel stand useless. But hey, no worries, it has fast charging that delivers 18 Watts and has actually bigger battery space than Pixel 3 XL.
Price. Best part of everything and why anyone will every consider the Google Pixel 3a XL is its price. At half of what you would have to pay for Pixel 3 XL, you get incredible specs and basically features that don’t even exist in Pixel 3 XL, like the headphone jack!
