Since their initial met and first date, Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka took to their social media to celebrate 15 years anniversary. The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star shared an intimate photo of him and husband in a hot water lake with a touching caption saying he’s grateful for having Burtka in his life.
“My first date with David was 15 years ago today, and we’ve been nearly inseparable ever since. I’m so, so grateful to this gorgeous man for giving me his heart, his shoulder, his strength, his lust, his laughter, his joy,” he captioned the picture.
He added, “He’s an actor, chef, author, singer, producer, and the most wonderful, selfless parent I’ve ever seen. A sextuple threat, if you will. And I most certainly will. Happy 15th Anniversary, @delicious. You keep making all my dreams come true. #love.”
To spice things up, Burtka also took to his Instagram handle and posted a picture with the hashtag “15yearschallenge”. The picture was a collection of the couple as they began dating and a recent photo of them.
He also added “15 years ago Neil Patrick Harris and I met on the street. From that day he has made my world a better place. Thank you @nph for the best years of my life. I can’t believe how fast 15 years have gone. Happy Anniversary! I can’t wait to keep on laughing, playing and loving for years to come. #15yearchallenge#lifeisaparty,” to which Harris replied saying, “You’re the sweetest! I love you!”
Neil Patrick and David Burtka Journey So Far
Harris and Burtka have been hanging since 2004 and had a set of twins through surrogacy in 2010. They finally got married in 2014 and since then they have remained a perfect couple.
Speaking of how they met, Burtka in an interview had explained “I was performing in the Sam Mendes version of ‘Gypsy on Broadway’ when I ran into Neil on the street. He was doing the Mendes version of Cabaret at the time.”
I wasn’t a big Doogie Howser fan — I had probably seen it once or twice when I was growing up — so I gave him a, ‘Hey, what’s up, nice to meet you,’ and that was really it. I thought it would be nice to know him, but I didn’t think in a million years I’d start dating him.”
