Robert Englund was a great Freddy Krueger up to 2003 and for those of you who probably wishes for his return, he’s not rejecting it completely. Just prepare a shot of Vitamin C.
“I’m not Freddy anymore, you guys. I could do one more…probably. If you shot me up with Vitamin C. But here’s the thing. I can’t do eight more, you guys. So we need a new actor that you guys believe in and trust and love that can go the distance.”
Along with that, the 72-year-old actor is also calling for directors to find another actor who will do great to portray the character. The man has starred as the dream villain 8 times between 1984 to 2003.
And it’s not like rumors of who is the best next Freddy Krueger hasn’t been floating around. Among the names that Englund showed favorability was?
Yep, this guy who starred in ‘Friday the 13th’. Kevin Bacon, a 61-year-old actor. Englund explains why on his interview in New Jersey during the Monster Mania convention.
Englund says, “Kevin loves horror. He’s a real actor. He’s a character actor. Kevin was great in Tremors. Kevin was great in Stir of Echoes. And I’ve heard this rumor. We need someone like that to take it on. And re-do it, exploiting all of the new technology.”
On the other hand, Kevin Bacon doesn’t hate the idea.
The character’s popularity has allowed the dream villain to make appearances in video games like ‘Dead by Daylight’ which is a hide-and-seek horror game. Some have even used Freddy Krueger as party idea, aside from ‘The Nun’.
If they’re every going to do another reboot on the horror series or whatever they want to call it, we really want them to do it right this time.
