Raw Pictures Of Woman Preparing To Fight Cancer As Husband Shaves Off Her Hair

Charlie is ready to fight.

Cancer is such a [insert any insulting word you find fitting]. It has put so many people’s spirit down, causing pain to the people around them at the same time. Photographer Mandy Parks had recently captured that pain in a photoshoot with Kelsey and Charlie Johnson.

But in that photoshoot, the pain was the only thing she captured. There was also beauty and bravery especially in the face of Charlie, a cancer fighter.

As Charlie wears a stunning pink dress, the Arkansas-based photographer snapped truly inspiring and beautiful pictures of the pair. And we know that no matter how much tears were shed, that they are not going down without a fight. Charlie proves that without hair, she is still a fighting queen.

Is hair loss always a guarantee?

Evidently, not all chemotherapy can lead to extensive hair loss, but most of the time, they do, at least partly. BreastCancer.org explains:

“Hair follicles, the structures in the skin filled with tiny blood vessels that make hair, are some of the fastest-growing cells in the body. If you’re not in cancer treatment, your hair follicles divide every 23 to 72 hours. But as the chemo does its work against cancer cells, it also destroys hair cells. Within a few weeks of starting chemo, you may lose some or all of your hair.”

“The extent of hair loss depends on which drugs or other treatments are used, and for how long. The various classes of chemotherapy drugs all produce different reactions.”

That is why those who go through chemotherapy can experience hair loss all over their body from hair to leg.

It’s not easy.

Shaving your own hair is always easier that feeling and looking at the mirror every morning on how many you lost. It helps motivate cancer patients to focus more on getting better and prevents especially women from feeling unattractive.

As Kevin carefully shaves her wife’s hair, both can really feel the reality sinking in – that she has lost her beautiful curvy blonde hair.
