The long-anticipated live-action remake of Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ just disclosed who will be starring as the lead role. And shockingly, we have the 19-year-old singer, Halle Bailey as Ariel.
After a thorough search, the Director –Rob Marshall announced that it was obviously clear that Halle Bailey had all the rare combinations of innocence, youth, spirit, substance, and heart – and an additional beautiful singing voice. All of which were the qualities needed for the historical role.
Reportedly, The Little Mermaid Remake will still be featuring the original songs from the 1989 animated movie alongside new songs from composer Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Responding, Halle Baily reacted on Twitter with the caption “Dream Come True.” She formed part of the R&B duo Chloe and Halle and has started singing covers of pop songs on a YouTube Channel.
The group EP, Sugar Symphony was officially released in 2016 and equally contained their hit “Drop and Fall.”
Accordingly, the group made a cameo presentation at Beyonce’s Lemonade Visual Album. And also an opening act for the European Leg of The Formation World Tour.

Many Twitter Users did, however, give positive feedback to the casting, most especially as the movie will be starring a Black Woman as the lead role –Ariel.
