The Flintstones Might Get A Revival By Elizabeth Banks’ Brownstones Productions
Will the classic return to our TV screen?
It seems that ‘The Flintstones’ is getting a reboot. Warner Bros Animation and Elizabeth Banks’ production company Brownstone Productions have entered early development for the classic remake of the live-action. The adult comedy series will be airing during primetime, featuring actors and actresses with familiar faces from the original classic.
Warner Bros holds the production rights, but no network has mentioned about acquiring the rights to show them.
The live-action was aired in 1994 while the animated series aired for 6 years from 1960 to 1966 on ABC. It has been canceled since then, but the idea of reviving the series has existed for quite a while. A spin-off show lasted for a season in 1971 titled ‘The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show’. And then there are ‘The Flintstone Comedy Hour’ in 1972 and ‘The New Fred and Barney Show’ in 1979.
What made it better was the live-action from 1994 which made $342 million in the worldwide box office. It did well commercially but got 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. They still made a sequel called ‘The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas’ which was not any better.
Elizabeth Banks’ production company Brownstone Productions was responsible for hits franchise like ‘Pitch Perfect’, so they might not actually mess this one up.
