12-Year-Old Kid Makes Shelter Dogs And Cats Stylish Bow Ties To Help Them Find A Home
The people of the United States have hailed him a hero to homeless animals in shelters.
Animals who end up in shelter find it truly hard to find a forever home. Most of the time, these animals have to be euthanized at the shelter is full. People who come to adopt also typically go with their guts as to which one looks cuter, happier and energetic.
It’s not easy for shelter animals, so Darius Brown helped them by making cute bow ties to make them look adorable! Growing up, some of us have often seen heroes behind screens who wear a cape, but Darius decided to wear bow ties!

This is the story of Darius Brown, the CEO of “Beaux & Paws”.
Darius Brown is 12 years old and he’s from New Jersey. The young boy hand made hundreds of bow ties for both cats and dogs in shelters for free. Darius Brown seems like the perfect kid every parent could have ever asked for, but he wasn’t.
Darius was diagnosed with a delay in speech, comprehension, and fine motor skills. He began learning to make bows at the age of 8 while helping to cut fabric for his sister, Dazhai. That’s how he gains better controls of his motor skills and to many’s surprises, he showed a talent in making bow ties. And that’s how his journey to helping dogs and cats finding forever home through bow ties began.
Darius found his company “Beaux & Paws” at the age of 11. He makes bow ties for people as well as their four-legged companions and from his earnings, he gives back to the community in forms of bow ties as well. Darius would choose the fabrics, cut and handmade them into adorable bow ties of various patterns.
Darius Brown was motivated to do more for cats and dogs in shelters after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma in 2017. The disaster has caused many homeless pets to be thrown into shelters across the nation. As more come in, the animals faced euthanasia, especially the ones who have disabilities, illness or old age.
Darius Brown receives praises from his 45k followers and is featured in magazines as well as promoted by famous figures such as Allen Houston, Kenya Moore, and Les Brown. He also received a letter from President Barrack Obama himself!
Barrack Obama commended him for his selfless act of helping out homeless pets. The letter says, “From founding Beaux and Paws to lifting up the lives of those around you, it’s clear you are doing your part to look out for your fellow citizens. And I trust you take tremendous pride in all you have accomplished. As long as you stay engaged in the world around you, continue looking for ways to help others and never give up on yourself, I’m confident our future will be bright.”
His recognition has given him many awards in the community service for leadership and youth changer. He has received Leadership Award from Leaders of the Future No Limits, Outstanding Achievement Award from the WDIB Conference, the Youth Changer Award from “Excel Honors” and Jasmina Anema Youth Award from the “Black Cotton Foundation” in July 2019.
His sister also shows huge support, “He motivates and inspires me every day. He is such an incredible young man and I will do everything I can to help him on his journey.”
Dazhai is setting up a fundraising campaign to help Darius reach even more states to volunteer. “I’m supporting him in his cause 100% and I hope you will join me. No donation is too small,” Dazhai added.
