John Cena Joins The ‘Fast & Furious’ Family
Johnson won’t be in Fast & Furious 9.
John Cena is officially welcome to the Fast and Furious Family. Back in the Month of April, it was recorded that Vin Diesel had teased the possibility of the wrestler joining the Fast and Furious Franchise, and now it’s made official.
Joining the team for Furious 9, this marks the first significant casting for the movie. The upcoming Fast & Furious 9 will also be seeing the return of director Justin Lin, who previously anchored four installments.
While casting a former wrestler worked out successfully for Lin, Dwayne Johnson involvement (a former wrestler) had assisted in elevating the franchise and also to the development of Summer Spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.
Earlier in an Interview in 2018, John Cena had however opined he would be perfect alongside Johnson in the Fast and Furious Movie. “That stuff is beyond my control, but I would absolutely love that opportunity,” he said.
“That, for me, would be a dream. I’m never really like, ‘Oh, I’d like to work with this person,’ but I just think between our chemistry in the live performance setting, there’s something certainly there with The Rock. So that would be my one name on the wish list,” he added.
Unfortunately for Cena, Johnson had announced he won’t be in Fast & Furious 9. Furthermore, this is will be the latest blockbuster opportunity for Cena, who starred in 2018 Transformers spin-off Bumblebee and recently enlisted in James Gunn’s new Suicide Squad film.
The movie will however hit the theaters on May 22, 2020.
