Tales of The City Coming to Netflix This June
A house with a long history of love. Ellen Page returns as grown-up Shawn.
28 Barbary Lane is not a foreign address for many who have read Armistead Maupin’s book, Tales of the City. Back in 1993, the TV show took the daring step into using a new perspective of queer people, especially gay and straight relationships. The show is returning next month with a focus of Mary Ann returning to Barbary Lane.
Anna Madrigal, an early pioneer of a transgender character, is still our beloved landlady. This time, the show focuses on Shawn, played by Ellen Page, returning to San Francisco and giving her mother, Mary Ann (Laura Linney) a visit. It has been years since her mother left to give her talk in New York.
The show has also familiar faces and names involved: Murray Bartlett will play Michael “Mouse” Tolliver, Paul Gross will play Brian Hawkins, Barbara Garrick will play DeDe with new residents in the house.
It’s going to be a ride of feels, seeing all these characters learn to connect with each other, facing the truth while finding happiness and love.
