Upcoming Avatar 2 & Sequels, What We Know So Far
Expected to strike a PG-13 rating again.
Over the last 10 years, we’ve witnessed several hit movies come and go but few has had a global appeal of James Cameron’s Avatar movie. The movie which was released in 2009, precisely in December had held the record as the highest grossing movie of all time. While the record achieved with the movie is about to fall, the strength of Avatar must however not be overlooked.
Most especially as Avatar 2 and it other sequels are currently in production, even if there’s a massive disaster, they will all at least happen. Fans are angered over the delayed, and have been waiting for a return, but seem the filmmaking teams who are behind the franchise have saved up some gigantic plans for the future.
What Will Avatar 2 Be called?
With fact, the upcoming Avatar 2 and sequels has no official title yet. A potential title was however leaked, appearing to give the upcoming movie the title Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa. Confirming this, James Cameron revealed the leaked title was actually a potential name but reported that nothing has been decided on so far. Meaning, the name for the upcoming Avatar is still in the pipeline.
What’s the Focus?
Reportedly, the story line will focus around the oceans of the planet Pandora – will introduce fans to an entirely new civilization of Pandora, the ocean-based Metkayina. Interestingly, the bulk of new actors joining the cast of Avatar 2 are quite young and there is a confirmed human character being played by a child actor, Jack Champion who will appear in the role of Javier ‘Spider’ Socorro. Born at the former human colony, the confirmed human character prefers spending his time exploring Pandora.
The Avatar 2 & 3 Release Date
Originally set for release in 2015, the delayed movie which is always slated for a Christmas release is now set to open December 17, 2021. Avatar and its three planned sequel is expected to strike a PG-13 rating again. Possibly, it might drift into a Rated R territory hopefully. Similarly, the Avatar 3 filming concurrently with Avatar 2 is scheduled for a December 2023 release.
