Dark Crystal Returns – A New Prequel Announced to Go Live On Netflix This August
Your childhood fear is back.
Yep, you heard that right. We know some of us were probably scarred for life due to the lifelike ‘animations’ of Dark Crystal from 1982. Some of us were amazed and some others want to be reminded back of those times.
Netflix is bringing our childhood back with better cameras, muppets and familiar voices, produced by Jim Henson himself, the original creator.
Actually, the news was already here back in 2017, but since it was only announced with barely anything to show, we know it quickly flew under the radar of many. But now, production has gone very well and Netflix has also graced upon us a teaser of the show’s production.
Jim Henson made one of the most terrifying shows amongst all other muppets. And it’s terrifying in its own ways. Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is going to be a prequel to the 1982 movie, showing three Gelfling characters revolting against Skeksis.
The three Gelflings, Rian, Brea, and Deet are voiced by Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel. We also see a long list of talented and familiar voices for other characters, according to Deadline:
“Other Gelfling characters are voiced by Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong and Alicia Vikander. The Skeksis & Mystics are voiced by Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg. Aughra will be voiced by Donna Kimball.“
And, enjoy some beautiful sneak-peeks of the show!
The show is set to stream on Netflix from August 30, 2019.
