Gal Gadot Will Be Hedy Lamarr In A Series For Showtime

Another 1900s movie she is going to star!

The famous ‘Wonder Woman’ star has been said to be eyeing the main role in a series for US television network, Showtime. She is to portray the role of an inventor who is also a Jewish star, Hedy Lamarr. She and husband, Jaron Varsano are to executive produce the movie.

Who’s Hedy Lamarr?

She was dubbed as ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’ which Gal Gadot features befits the title. In 1914, she was born as Hedwig Kiesler and she fled for Hollywood in 1938 and began having famous people as friends.

From Judy Garland, Lana Turner, Spencer Tracy, Jimmy Stewart to Clark Gable, she has starred alongside popular actors and actresses. But that wasn’t the only thing she excels in. On the side, she was a successful inventor, patenting a frequency-hopping technology 1941. This technology is a very important advancement to Wi-Fi that we use daily.

The background setting of the movie explores the turmoils of feminism, World War II along with the Golden Age of Hollywood.

After passing away at the age of 86 in 2000, her name made it to National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014.

Producers of the movie will include Sarah Treem from ‘The Affair’, Warren Littlefield from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, Katie Robbins and Jaron Varsano. Jana Winograde, head of Showtime, spoke about the upcoming series in an on 2019 Television Critics Association summer press tour.

“The life of Hedy Lamarr was a truly fascinating one. She stood at the forefront of many issues that challenge women and our society today. In Gal Gadot, we have found the transcendent actress to portray the deeply complex Lamarr. And with the award-winning talents of Sarah Treem and Warren Littlefield, this is going to be a special series.”

Gal Gadot is also signing up for another major project with Netflix and will star alongside Ryan Reynolds and The Rock in ‘Red Notice’. Her filming for ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is also wrapping up with several reshoots in the progress, slated for release in 2020.
