Luca Guadagnino Is Directing Warner Bros’ ‘Lord Of The Flies’

Definitely high expectation of a good adaptation!

Warner Bros. has confirmed that their adaptation on William Golding’s ‘Lord of the Flies’ will be directed by Luca Guadagnino. He’s currently in talks to how the adaptation on a school of boys who became wild after being stranded on an uninhabited island and uncontrollable as they seek ways to govern themselves.

Meanwhile, the executive producer of the movie is Known Universe which was founded by tentpole writers Lindsey Beer, Nicole Perlman, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. This move is after their announcement of adapting a gender-bent version of the classic in 2017, but people were criticizing how two men, Scott McGehee, and David Siegel, were penning the movie instead.

It’s certainly interesting to see that movies and shows with ‘Lord of the Flies’ theme have been gaining popularity. Recently, ‘The Society’ from Netflix has been hailed as a great adaptation on a society ruled by anarchy with hints of Pied Piper.

Guadagnino promises to stick close to the book by bringing in a school of boys back to the adaptation. Guadagnino is acclaimed for his drama adaptation on ‘Call Me by Your Name’ as well as his horror remake of ‘Suspiria’. He’s also currently directing his first TV series for HBO called ‘We Are Who We Are’.
