40 years ago, The Shining (available on Netflix) was critically acclaimed for its wonderfully made adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same title. Danny Torrance escaped the clutch of those who hunger for his powers. The movie was adapted by Steve Kubrick.

A new teaser trailer of a sequel that follows up the story 40 years after has been released by Warner Bros. Doctor Sleep is written and directed by Mike Flanagan, the man who also wrote and directed for The Haunting of Hill House. And this one definitely falls under our must-watch bucket list.
The supernatural-thriller movie is sure to creep us out. But that’s not going to stop us from watching it, right?
The screenplay was written by Flanagan and it’s based on Stephen King’s work of the same series from 2013. Flanagan also points out that his screenplay will be based more on the books, but will still take into consideration of the 1980’s adaptation.
“Yeah, I think you do have to acknowledge that [the original movie]. There is no version of the world where I am trying not to acknowledge one of the greatest films ever made. There’s no upside in shying away from that reality.”
He admitted that it was not easy to make a worthy sequel and doesn’t know how the public is going to accept it.
“It’s its own story and in a very specific way. If you’ve read the book, you know exactly why it’s so different but it’s quite a tightrope that we’re walking, I think.
“I’m having a great time doing it. I’m just going to get the movie out and then turn off the internet for two weeks and see how it all goes.”

Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor), now an adult, is struggling with alcoholism just like his dad, Jack, used to. He’s also fully aware of his own powers and the danger it poses.
He’s met with a certain young girl, Abra (Kyliegh Curran) who also possesses the same ‘steam’ called ‘the shine’. We see Danny explaining that a cult called ‘True Knot’ is known to hunt this power and kill other children in a quest of seeking for immortality. Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation) is the leader of the cult.

The film also stars several others like Bruce Greenwood, Zahn McClarnon, and Emily Alyn Lind. This also marks Kyliegh’s first major film debut as the gifted girl, Abra.
The movie hits the theater on November 8 and it’s definitely going to compete with other exceptional horror and thriller shows that come out this year. Ready for some skin-crawling creeps and jump scares?
