Harry Styles Won’t Be Prince Eric In ‘The Little Mermaid’

Sources confirmed through Variety are saying that Harry Styles has passed up the offer. We won’t be seeing the ex-One Direction member as Prince Eric in Disney’s remake of ‘The Little Mermaid’. This appears to be a shock to the whole fandom of the remake as well as Harries.

Because just yesterday, DisInsider was exclusively saying that Harry Styles has signed the contract. Although it was true that early talks were made, the singer turned out to reject to offer.

Halle Bailey has been confirmed early on to portray the mermaid princess, but the search continues for her love interest. Melissa McCarthy will portray the evil aunt of Ariel, Ursula. The remake will also be directed by Rob Marshall and written by David Magee.

The remake will certainly retain many points from the original classic from 1989. Its release approximately 30 years ago was a hit and everyone is definitely eager to see how the remake will turn out this time. The movie is bringing back original composer Alan Menken and the lyrics will be written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

What’s more interesting is to see how Disney will take the plot since its remakes on several movies have taken a darker turn, except for Lion King. Mulan has also shown to be following more closely to its Chinese legends.

Will Ariel live or die as bubbles? It’s definitely a roller coaster ride when you consider the chances of her dying as to be more likely.
