Netflix Plans To Increase Standard & Premium Streaming Plans For UK Customers

Is the hike worth the contents?

Reportedly, Netflix has declared its intention of raising prices for customers residing in the United Kingdom. Particularly for customers on both standard and premium steaming plans,  the price hike is said will be effective in the next few weeks.

While new customer equally have to pay the new price fees immediately, the standard streaming plan for two devices which was initially £7.99 has been increased to £8.99. Similarly, the premium streaming plan for four devices in Ultra HD has been increased to £11.99 from £9.99.  However, the Netflix standard definition plan remains unchanged, it is still fixed for £5.99.

Achieved in the United States in January, Netflix explained that the price increase was a necessary aspect of expanding its contents, more especially as it is gearing up to compete with studio like Disney+ and the upcoming Apple TV Plus Service. Despite the hike in price, U.S. customers are still paying the price for Netflix content offerings.

Currently, the company is investing in licensing and original programming rights for the series like Friends – owned by AT&T’s WarnerMedia. Friends which was a $100 million deal had, however gave Netflix an exclusive rights to 10 seasons until the end of 2019, outshining Hulu.
