Woman Welcomes Miracle Baby Girl After Suffering Thirteen Miscarriages

Following fertility treatment, a woman who had suffered 13 miscarriages expressed her joy after giving birth to her little baby girl.

Aged 35, Laura Worsley, who hails from Kenilworth, has before Ivy birth suffered eleven pregnancies which ended in the first trimesters and had equally lost two boys at 17 and 20 weeks respectively.

Ivy was born via caesarean, weighing just 1.7 lbs, and was rushed to intensive care. She went from strength-to-strength and was allowed home 11 weeks later

Leading to a thorough investigation, she was later diagnosed with two conditions that have been affecting her chances of having her own children.

But after a critical session of steroids and medications, Laura and her husband finally conceived for the 14^th time after so much trial.

Laura told the BBC: ‘I told myself, this is the last time I’m doing this’

Speaking on BBC, Laura, however, revealed she can’t still believe Ivy is actually hers.

The couple’s first miscarriage occurred in 2008 and doctors kept suggesting they will keep trying, but not until their fourth pregnancy ended tragically.

Laura told how she’s sharing her story to ‘give others the hope and strength to carry on even when things seem impossible.’

After being referred to hospitals for checkups, Laura was also diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome. This is a kind of condition that can cause an increased risk of having a miscarriage. While they had been advised that a high dose of folic acid might be the answer to their prayers, the couples have been weighed down.

In 2015 and 2017 respectively, the couples had lost two pregnancies that progressed beyond 12weeks, but heartbreakingly, they lost their boys – Graceson and Leo.

A team of experts, including Professor Siobhan Quenby (pictured above), used steroids in an attempt to suppress Laura’s immune system, enabling the pregnancy to proceed beyond 24 weeks

Further bad news hit the couple when Laura was again diagnosed with Histiocytic Intervillositis (CHI) which allows the body to fight against pregnancy.

Nevertheless, little Ivy, now nine months, went from strength-to-strength and was allowed home 11 weeks later.
