WhatsApp Confirms Ads In App, But Until Next Year
Users waiting on how to accommodate the new change.
The Free Messenger App, WhatsApp has confirmed that ads will arrive in its app as part of statuses stories in 2020. The WhatsApp status feature had allow users share full screen of photos, texts, videos and animated GIFs that only lasts for 24hours, and just like the status, Ads will be displayed to also occupy such space.
Disclosed at its Annual Facebook Marketing Summit in Netherlands earlier, the Be Connect Digital Marketing Agency’s Olivier Ponteville were apparently on hand at the event – as seen via his tweet. Ponteville photographed several slides from the event that depicted how the ads will look like in the app.
While @Matt Navarra via his Twitter also revealed other WhatsApp initiative such as Richer Messaging Format for WhatsApp for Business Users as well as the Integration of WhatsApp Product Catalog with Facebook Business Manager Catalog, the ads status will display the name of the company rather than showing the name of the contact at the top of the screen.
It will allow WhatsApp users to swipe up when an ad appears in order to get more information about the product or services that is being advertised. Facebook had confirmed that ads were coming soonest, so this is really still a surprise since it’s confirmation came sudden. Users are however currently waiting to have a view of what it really looks like and how to accommodate the new change.
One WhatsApp user so far @The_Shaman has however expressed his dissatisfaction over the announcement saying “As soon as I get that update, I’m deleting the app”.
