Game of Thrones Books Might End Differently, Says George R. R. Martin

It might and might not end the same way. We still have 3,000 pages to go to decide the fate of the characters.

Game of Thrones gained controversial opinions from people, mostly leaning towards disappointment and petitions for a remake for season 8 of Game of Thrones as well as cutting David Benioff and D.B. Weiss from the new Star Wars trilogy.

This has been causing worries across the fandom who have read the books. Why, it’s a series that started more than two decades ago and the sixth volume, The Winds of Winter, has yet to finish. The author of the famous fantasy-themed TV series has always been known for taking his sweet time in finishing the manuscript.

George R. R. Martin has mentioned that the last two books will sum up to more than 3,000 pages. Meanwhile, the last season of Game of Thrones only lasted 8 hours. It’s pretty safe to say that the books might end differently, or at least, will see different progress of how the characters reach where they are in the finale episode of the series.

In his Not a Blog blog, George R. R. Martin writes about the future of his story.

“How will it all end? I hear people asking.   The same ending as the show?  Different?

“Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.

“There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all, and others who died in the show but still live in the books… so if nothing else, the readers will learn what happened to Jeyne Poole, Lady Stoneheart, Penny and her pig, Skahaz Shavepate, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Victarion Greyjoy, Ser Garlan the Gallant, Aegon VI, and a myriad of other characters both great and small that viewers of the show never had the chance to meet.

“Book or show, which will be the “real” ending? It’s a silly question.”

Guess, we’ll know when it comes out. And then fans can “argue about it on the internet later.”
